
Dhangadhi, Kailali – A week-long speech therapy camp for individuals with cleft lips and palates was successfully conducted in Dhangadhi. The camp provided essential follow-up services such as speech therapy, dental care, gum surgery, ear-nose-throat consultations, and psychosocial counseling for post-surgery patients.
A total of 31 patients directly benefited from the camp, which featured services from a team of renowned specialist doctors:
- Dr. Bhawani Pradhan led focused speech therapy sessions to help individuals with speech and pronunciation issues speak confidently.
- Prof. Dr. Shankarman Rai assessed post-surgery recovery and needs.
- Dr. Rituraj Khadka provided dental checkups and treatment.
- Dr. D.R. Kandel conducted ENT examinations and consultations.
Health workers including Leela Rana, Neelam Shrestha, Naina Mahato, Pushpa Gaha, Hema Chaudhary, and Asha Sharma played crucial roles in patient care and camp management.
According to coordinator Kailash Khaki Shrestha, similar programs will be continued at the community level in the future, ensuring access to specialist services for patients from Sudurpashchim, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.
