Kathmandu – An arrest warrant has been issued against Indian yoga guru and Patanjali Yogpeeth founder Baba Ramdev, along with Acharya Balkrishna, the Managing Director of Patanjali Ayurved.
According to Indian media reports, the Kerala Drugs Control Department has taken legal action under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for both individuals.
The warrant was issued after Baba Ramdev failed to appear in court, despite being summoned. His repeated absence prompted the court to proceed with the arrest order.
Background:
Ramdev and Balkrishna have faced multiple allegations in India for making unverified claims about Ayurvedic medicines, including their alleged ability to cure serious diseases. Medical bodies in India have criticized Patanjali for spreading misleading advertisements and unsupported health claims, which led to legal scrutiny and eventual court action.
