Kathmandu, September 14 – Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, has emphasized the need for policy reforms to prioritize the treatment and services related to Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) health in Nepal.
Speaking at the inaugural session of the 9th National Conference of the Society of Otolaryngologists of Nepal (SOL), which began Friday in the capital, Minister Paudel stated that greater clarity is needed in ENT service delivery, technological adoption, and workforce management. He also encouraged the society to propose a policy framework aimed at strengthening ENT healthcare in Nepal.
During the event, Dr. Dipendra Shrestha, President of the Society, noted that ENT services have expanded across the country and that modern technologies are being adopted. However, he expressed concern that the government has not given adequate priority to ENT healthcare.
Dr. Yogesh Nyaupane, General Secretary of the Society, provided an overview of SOL’s various ongoing activities. This marks the ninth national conference of the organization.

The conference will continue through Saturday, with dozens of national and international experts presenting papers and hundreds of doctors and healthcare professionals participating in scientific discussions, according to Dr. Nyaupane.
