Kathmandu — Goma Shrestha, a student from a brick kiln in Sudal, Changunarayan Municipality-8, Bhaktapur, has achieved a remarkable milestone by scoring a perfect 4.0 GPA in this year’s SEE (Secondary Education Examination).
Balancing labor and learning, Goma worked at the brick kiln alongside her parents while continuing her studies. Her inspiring story of perseverance and success caught national attention, prompting Bhatbhateni Supermarket Chairperson Min Bahadur Gurung and his wife Sabitri Gurung to fully sponsor her educational journey.
At a felicitation event on Thursday, the Gurung couple honored Goma with a certificate, a laptop, and a cash prize of NPR 100,000. Chairperson Gurung also announced that Goma will be enrolled at St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar, for her higher secondary studies, with all expenses covered. He further committed to funding her medical education up to the MBBS level.
Goma only learned of her outstanding result after returning from transplanting rice in the fields — a striking reminder of her humble beginnings and extraordinary determination.
